Coach’s Laryngitis Confused with Spotty Wi-Fi

An academic coach’s laryngitis was the source of much confusion in a recent team meeting. It seems the coach attempted many times to explain that she was suffering from inflamed vocal cords, but her teammates were unable to understand her and believed, instead, that she was breaking up due to poor internet connection. The coach’s team hollered out such helpful suggestions as, “Try shutting off your virtual background!”, “No, just shut off your camera altogether!”, “Why don’t you try dialing in?”, and, “Maybe it’ll help to leave the meeting and then rejoin.” Not only was her team unable to hear her laryngitis explanation – they also did not hear the coach’s frustrated attempt to remind them that they were in an in-person team meeting.
